Questionnaires

To help with my understanding of music magazines, I created a questionnaire. I got 10 people from my target age to fill out the questionnaire, as this would give me a greater understanding of what people want to see in a magazine, and what should be the main focus.

Asking 10 people what their favourite music genre was, i found out that the majority of people liked indie music, more specifically indie rock. From this data, i have decided that my magazine will be based on the indie genre of music as a whole, rather than a specific sub-section.

Asking 10 people what their attracted them to a music magazine, i found out that most people are attracted by the main image. This shows what the focus of my magazine has to be, and one that really catches someones attention. Although all aspects of the front cover are important, this is the one my interviewees are most attracted to.

Asking 10 people what they would pay for a music magazine, 60% would be happy to pay between £2 and £4, whereas only 40% wouldnt want to pay more than £2. On the interview form, I asked "if the price was slightly over £2, say £2.50, would you be happy to purchase my magazine?". Everyone that had marked less than £2 had said yes, meaning that this was the ideal price for my magazine, and what i am happy to charge.
