Double Page Spread: Metal Hammer

Inside this edition of Metal Hammer, there are 132 pages, 37 of which are advertisements. Companies use this magazine to advertise, due to the amount of readers the magazine gets. Having this amount of readers means that the companies advertising will be reaching out to more people. A large majority of these adverts were to do with music, as this is what type of magazine it is. A lot of these music advertisements were for heavy metal concerts, which would appeal to the readers the most, as this is what type of genre the magazine is. Other advertisements included video games, music albums and magazine subscriptions. These adverts will appeal most to the audience of this magazine, as these are the sorts of things the target audience are interested in.

This double page spread for the band KORN is the most eye catching, due to the large picture of one of the band members, JD. The picture is a close up of his face, and he is staring straight at the reader. This picture shows the mystery behind the band, as it is hard to interpret his facial expression, as there is almost no visible expression.

This magazine is written in the style of a Q&A, rather than the band member writing the article, like that of the magazine Kerrang!, which i have already analysed.

The pull quote in this magazine is a powerful one, as it was said from one band member, about another. This shows the struggles the band have been through, and why they are a mysterious group of people. The language used in this article is formal, as there are no expletives used in the page to the right. However, there is some slang used.
